QUESTIONS / 04
GOOD QUESTIONS.
What are the ongoing fees?
A 6% royalty and a 1% national advertising fund contribution, both on gross revenue and paid monthly, plus local marketing of 1.5% of gross revenue or $1,500 a month, whichever is greater. Item 6 of our FDD lists every other fee.
What support do I get?
60+ hours of initial training, our operations manual, site-selection criteria and site approval, opening assistance, and ongoing advice by phone and email after you open. Item 11 of our FDD describes all of it.
What does training cover?
The menu, food prep and cooking, opening and closing, customer service, safety and marketing. There’s no fee for initial training; you cover travel, and up to two of your team can attend with you.
Do you help me find a site?
Yes. We give you our site-selection criteria, then review and approve the location you choose.
Do I get an exclusive territory?
Yes. You get an exclusive territory, normally a 1-mile radius around your store, where we won’t open another Mashed.
How big is a typical store?
Typically about 1,000 to 2,000 square feet.
How long is the franchise agreement?
10 years, with the right to renew for additional 10-year terms under our then-current franchise agreement.
Can I open more than one store?
Yes. Qualified operators can develop three to five stores under an area development agreement: the $35,000 initial franchise fee for the first store plus $17,500 for each additional store (Items 5 and 7).
Where are you looking to grow?
We’re looking for partners in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Illinois and other open markets. Some states require us to register before we can offer franchises there; if you live or want to open in one of them, we’ll contact you once we’re registered.
